DECEMBER ADULT PROGRAMS

Fiber Arts Social:
Monday, December 2 & 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (1st & 3rd Mondays of the month)
Spend a few hours stitching your cares away! Bring your easily portable fiber art project and come join our drop-in stitching group. We’ll share tips and experiences and maybe a few laughs. This is mainly a share and social group.

A book group reading a wide range of genres. Books available at the circ desk.

Stir-the-Pot: Holiday Cookies:
Saturday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m.

Like to have a variety of cookies around during the holidays but don't want to bake so many different kinds? Then come to our holiday cookbook event! Peruse the book, Christmas Cookies at our circulation desk and find your favorite cookie recipe. Make a copy of the recipe to make at home and then bring 5 dozen cookies to exchange. We will discuss the book, the baking process, and what you like or didn’t like about the recipe, all while sampling a few cookies before we have our exchange. Drinks and take away boxes and will be provided.

Holiday Open House:
Thursday, December 12 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
A Library tradition, this event is fun for the whole family. Live music, crafts and snacks, sleigh rides and Santa! Free. (Santa visits upstairs from 5:30-6:30 only!

Writers’ Medley:
 Thursday, December 19 at 2:00 p.m.

For those interested in pursuing the art of creative writing and sharing their work with peers. Each month a helpful prompt is provided. Call Wanda at 524-1507.

Classic Movie Night:
Thursday, December 19 at 6:00 p.m.
Miracle on 34th Street (20th Century Fox, 1947, 96 minutes)
A true holiday classic, this is the original 1947 black and white version starring Maureen O'Hara, John Payne and the charming Edmund Gwenn as Kris Kringle.  A newsreel and cartoon are shown prior to the feature. Free, including yummy popcorn and a beverage. 

DECEMBER YOUTH PROGRAMS
Music & Movement (Mon.) / Story Time (Thurs.):
Every Monday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
Children age 0-6 and their caregivers are invited to come to the Library for some stories and fun activities. Sing, dance and reveal your inner musician on Monday's Music and Movement story time or enjoy a more traditional story hour on Thursday. It’s a great way to meet other parents/caregivers. Infants welcome! (Check our calendar for Holiday breaks.)

Holiday PJ Story Time:
Tuesday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the Festival of Trees, we’re hosting a fun Holiday Story Time! Wear your pajamas and join us for some Holiday cheer featuring stories, songs, crafts and snacks!

Homeschool Chess Club:
Wednesday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m.
Meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. All abilities welcome!

Baby Story Time:
Saturday, December 7 at 10:30 a.m.

We will be exploring nursery rhymes, songs and a simple story or two. Babies (0 to24 months) and their caretakers are invited to come and partake in the fun. A great way to meet other parents!

Gingerbread House Making:
Tuesday, December 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
By reservation only, children age 5 and up are invited to join us in the youth room to create graham cracker houses. We provide all the supplies needed. SPACE LIMITED—SIGN-UP IS MANDATORY: 524-1507. AGES 5 and up.

Teen Craft—Canvas Painting:
Saturday, December 14 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
We'll follow along to a YouTube tutorial to create a wonderful Christmas painting! Registration required - for teens 12 - 18.

Holiday Family String-art Craft Day:
Saturday, December 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Hot mulled cider, festive music and a large table full of wood blocks, string, nails, holiday templates and, yes, hammers to create some truly memorable art. Relaxing fun for the whole family, though ages 8 and up recommended.
